Flute Choir at PGCC
The Prince George's Community College Flute Choir

What is a Flute Choir?
A flute choir is a group of flutists performing together, including the full flute family to cover a wide range in sound. In additional to standard C flutes, flute choirs typically include piccolo, alto flutes, bass flutes, and sometimes even contrabass flutes!
Who can join the PGCC Flute Choir?
The PGCC Flute Choir is for all flutists in the community, not just students enrolled at the college! The flute choir is also open to all adults, high school students and even advanced middle school students. Residence in Prince George’s County is not required – in fact, we can even welcome flutists who live outside Maryland! The only requirements are the ability to read music, ownership of a flute, and the commitment to attend rehearsals and practice at home! At least three years’ experience is recommended – if you are not sure if the PGCC Flute Choir is right for you, please contact us!
When and where does the PGCC Flute Choir rehearse?
The PGCC Flute Choir rehearses once a week during the Fall and Spring semesters at the Center for Performing Arts on the campus of Prince George’s Community College in Largo, MD (see below for a map). The exact location and time is TBD, but will likely be Saturday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm.
How do I sign up?
The PGCC Flute Choir is a one credit course offered through the music department as MUS-1130 – Small Chamber Ensemble. You may register for this course for college credit or audit for no credit.
What if I also want to register for another small chamber ensemble?
Yes – we do offer several small chamber ensembles, and we would love to have participate in a group in addition to the Flute Choir! Let us know that you are interested after you register for MUS-1130 – Small Chamber Ensemble, and we will make sure it happens!
Are private lessons offered?
Absolutely! Private lessons are available beginning with MUS-1710 – Applied Music Level I. Register for the course, and the PGCC lesson coordinator will reach out to connect us (or feel free to reach out to me directly) so we can set up a weekly day and time!
